Texas Tech plans for College of Veterinary Medicine

Texas Tech University plans to partner its Health Sciences Center with a future College of Veterinary Medicine. The motive to build a veterinary school is to provide more educational opportunities and educate future rural veterinarians.

In 2015, 210 Texas students were accepted into a veterinary school and 127 of those students attended within the state. But due to the shortage of availability, 75 continued their education out of state. Currently Texas offers 132 students enrollment seats and plans to increase the seats to 162, below the national average of students becoming veterinarian professionals.

In Texas, 30 percent of all veterinarians are 60 years old. In rural communities near Amarillo, 46 percent of the veterinarians are older than 60. Due to the age difference, Texas needs an additional 263 first-year students to meet the national average of professionals.

The school's agenda is underway and since the college will be partnered with Health Sciences, some medical students will be able to work hands-on alongside the veterinary students.

Your English listening, reading, writing and speaking skills in academic tasks are measured. American accents and vocabulary are included in its listening section.

Institute of Agriculture to come up at Kumulur

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University is establishing Institute of Agriculture at Kumulur in the district. The institute will offer diploma programmes in agriculture from the current academic year.

Presently, diploma programmes are offered through various TNAU research stations in various parts of the State. The programmes are likely to be integrated and offered through the institute at Kumulur.

According to sources, the integration of colleges at one place is aimed at facilitating effective administration of the research farms. Eight lecture halls, office room, Principal’s chamber and toilet blocks have been built at Kumulur. An old building, to be used as staff quarters, is being repaired. An array of unused buildings belonging to the District Institute of Education and Training in the vicinity would be utilised for accommodating hostellers. As a large number of students will come from different parts of the State, we have made arrangements for accommodating them at the DIET buildings, the source said.

Haryana School curriculum to include religious texts

Texts from the holy books of various religions will be incorporated in the curriculum of government schools in Haryana from this month, a minister said on Sunday.

The subject of moral education which includes religious texts from Bhagavad Gita, Quran, the Bible and Guru Granth Sahib will be introduced at a programme to be held in the Kurukshetra University auditorium on July 5.

Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said moral education would be introduced as a subject for students from class six to class 12.

Dulsco, Dubai Cares builds a school in Nepal

Recognising the critical role education plays in eradicating poverty, Dubai's top labour supply company Dulsco contributed to the construction of a school in Nepal as part of Dubai Cares' "Adopt a school"initiative.

Representatives from Dulsco's senior management recently visited Narayanpur village located in far western Nepal to inaugurate the adopted school. Dubai Cares and Dulsco's combined efforts in building the school will benefit approximately 150 children. The schools will also indirectly benefit approximately 300 adults, teachers and community officials.

The Narayanpur community has invested more than 500 volunteering hours towards the construction of the school. The school was constructed by Build On,the implementation partner for Dubai Cares in Nepal. Dulsco also recently contributed to Dubai Cares' Nepal earthquake reconstruction programme that targets the reconstruction of schools damaged during the severe earthquake that hit Nepal in 2015.
