GEMS Education raises 250 Million dollars for expansion

Gems Education, one of the world's biggest operators of private schools, raised a $250 million loan to build new schools in the Gulf Cooperation Council member states and other countries, according to two people with knowledge of the deal.
The Dubai-based company obtained the three-year loan in dollars and dirhams, more than 80 percent of which will be paid at maturity and the remainder over the loan's life, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information isn't public. The loan is priced at 480 basis points, or 4.8 percentage points, over the benchmark rate, they said.

HRD ministry will launch child-tracking system

In order to track the performance and dropout rates among candidates, the Human Resource Ministry (HRD) ministry will soon be forming a child tracking system for over 200 million children across the nation.
According to recent tweets by the HRD minister, Smriti Irani said that apart from introducing the child tracking system, the ministry will focus on improving the concept of bridge school that was earlier discontinued due to Right to Education.
Smrti Irani said that the ministry would be tracking the online progress of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) that was earlier introduced for ensuring universal elementary education in India. Also, she added, "We did mid-term review online. This year we shall track SSA daily online. Study finds swimming lessons help to boost Maths results

Swimming classes help middle class children boost their maths grades, a study by UCL has revealed.
Children who take part in organised sports and physical activities were one and a half times more likely to reach higher than expected grades in their maths test at the end primary school at age 11, it found.

RAISE launched in Nagaland

The Secretary to Government of Nagaland for Social Welfare Department, Dellirose M. Sakhrie launched the Regional Action on Inclusive Education (RAISE) Northeast on Tuesday, so as to provide holistic support to children with special needs.
According to newspaper reports, Christoffel Blinden Mission (CBM), Light for the World and Liliane Fonds are the three international agencies supporting the project. 15 NGOs will be implementing the project in five states of the region. IIT foundation course in all govt schools soon

In an awareness programme on 'IIT foundation course' for the students and parents in Vijaywada, Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the state government will take measures to introduce IIT foundation course in all the Zilla and Mandal Parishad High Schools across the state from the next academic year.
Srinivasa Rao said that there are 1,500 municipal schools inthe state with an enrolment of 2.5 lakh students. Despite this, hardly any student from municipal schools topped in IIT or any other competitive examination. The Fort Convent Association (FCA) launched a project "Khilo" for promoting education of the underprivileged girl child. Itwas organised by the alumnus of Fort Convent School, Mumbai. A whopping amount ofRs1 crore was collected at the event for educating one hundred girls fromdeserving and underprivileged backgrounds — from Std 1st and 10th.
