Private Institutions may lower fees from new academic year

Many private educational institutions, business schools, and engineering colleges operating with the All India Council for Technical Education's (AICTE) approval will have to lower their fees to comply with a national committee'€™s recommendations.
The AICTE made it mandatory in February to implement proposals of the National Fee Committee, a 10-member panel headed by former Supreme Court Judge BN Srikrishna, which was formed in 2014 to prescribe fee guidelines for technical institutions. Mumbai University To Go Digital

The Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh has plans to make the Mumbai University digital within the next year. He also plans to introduce long-distance online courses for easy access by students. The online courses will include courses in subjects like social sciences, natural sciences and others like music.
Under the virtual education network (VSAT), about 40 virtual classrooms will be started across the campuses of Mumbai University. These will use satellite based broadcasting for lectures. Read More<> Mumbai University To Go Digital

Govt brings online facility for medical colleges application

As an add-on facility, Union health ministry introduced an online procedure of receiving application from medical colleges seeking to start post- graduation courses or increase seats in existing ones. After the online submission, applicants will have to upload a scanned copy of the consent of university, demand draft and other documents.
As per the revised procedure, an online application has been mandatory. It came into effect on March 15 and the last date for submission of applications is April 7, 2016. Applicants or colleges desirous of filing an application for purposes of starting of PG courses (broad specialities) or increase of seats in PG courses in an existing medical college are requested to follow these steps. The education in India has a rich and fascinating history. The education system which evolved first in India is known as the Vedic system of education which is based on the Vedas and therefore it is called Vedic Educational System. The education during these periods are found to be very disciplined and well organized. It is also believed that education is imparted orally by sagas and scholars . Palm leaves and tree barks are used as writing pads and this method improved the writing skills in India.

The temples and grounds under trees were used as the schools on those days. Then, the “Gurukul System” of education came into existence. They are the traditional Hindu residential school of learning where the teachers imparted knowledge on various aspects of the religion, the scriptures, the philosophy, the literature, the warfare, the statecraft, the medicine astrology and the history. The classes where taken at the teacher's house known as Gurukul. Other unique aspect in this system of learning is that it is free for all but some students from good financial background will give Guru Dakshina to their guru at the end of the courses. NITI Aayog recommends extension of the Right to Education (RTE) Act to pre-primary levels and grade-wise minimum learning goals for class one to eight under the law.
On March 10, NITI Aayog made a presentation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Education Review for 2015-16. The Aayog has said that National Achievement Survey (NAS) should be made an annual and result-actionable exercise. EWS reimbursement to schools increased

The Delhi government has decided to increase the reimbursement amount it pays to private schools for free education of students under the economically weaker section by almost 25 per cent from the upcoming academic session.
According to education department officials, the government will now pay Rs 1,598 per student to private schools towards tuition fee and other expenses for admission under the EWS category.
